The traditional design for the high-voltage coil of dry-type transformers is a multi-section cylindrical layer-type coil. The layer-type coil structure is simple, but due to the need to be divided into multiple sections for winding (to reduce the voltage between sections), there are many connections for the coil lead-out wires, making it difficult to achieve automated production. Therefore, our company has drawn on foreign production experience and adopted the drop-type winding process. For small coils, we have developed a vertical winding machine that utilizes the self-weight of the wire for sinking. This winding machine has a simple coil formation process, requiring only the control of the inner and outer diameters of the coil. There are no complex production processes such as inter-layer insulation, end insulation, and air ducts. Due to the irregular distribution of the wires after sinking and the certain gaps between turns, after epoxy resin pouring, the mechanical strength can be guaranteed. The overall size of the coil is basically the same as that of the traditional coil. Through experiments, the performance indicators of the transformer can be guaranteed.
